The development of mediation in serious crime cases is the theme of our new JUSTIN project, which we launched in partnership with the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic on Friday 10 June in Bratislava. The meeting was attended by over thirty Slovak criminal law practitioners, with whom we discussed the application of restorative principles and the current practice of mediation in criminal proceedings in our countries. We have prepared an initial report on this topic, which will appear on our website soon.
After the screening of the Finnish documentary Eye to Eye, in which survivors meet the murderers of their loved ones, we further shared the possibilities of implementing restorative practice in Czechia and Slovakia and discussed the film’s strong moments.
